If you are reading this, then greetings and thank you for lending me your valuable eyes and ears time. For the first time in a long time, if ever, I have this feeling that things are aligned for me and the path from here is clear. I have come to an internal agreement on what it is I truly seek to gain from music as it has been many things before. I once saught fame, fortune and clout. I was a competitive athlete in my youth and this bravado leaked its way into my early career and aspirations. Now I care not for those things, but I still have a burning passion to share my art with people, so here it is.
In the most basic explanation possible, Project Headphones is going to be 20 episodic sonic episodes with each beat released every two weeks starting 03.01.25 on all DSP’s. Each beat with have a short visualizer and cover art designed by yours truly, and an accompanying post here explaining the concept. But there is a story being told throughout and themes and concepts I have been tinkering with.
As a primarily sample based artist, I feel like I have an ability to alter time a bit. Think about it. As I exist in the present, I have the means to go and find a physical time capsule out in the wild which contains audio recordings from era’s past. The record may be 60 minutes long, yet I can capture 1-2 seconds from that, record it into my computer, and then release it again in an altered state allowing the emotion and melodies to exist again. Music is infinite. Every chord and note that exists has already been played, in every possible combination imaginable. I am the Rhythm Conductor, arranger of samples plucked from the obscure and unknown.
I’m not trying to make this a technical masterpiece in the sense of mixing, FX, transitions or arrangements. I am trying to create vibes, slices of times past, present and future. We are busier than ever, and our attention spans are fragile, and I want to respect all my listeners time as well. Each track will run 1-2.5 minutes total. So I cordially invite you to begin this journey with me.
Lastly - I will not be pushy or invasive with this, but if you would like to follow this closely I would suggest signing up below to receive correspondence. While I can't promise early access to the music, I plan to release the Behind The Beat post 24 hours before the music goes live.
